To play this song correctly you’ll have to tune your guitar to open E. This means we’ll tune our guitar so that it sounds like an E chord when all 6 strings are played open.

Here’s how to tune in to open E:
Intro
Ahh…this song is chocked full of hammer-ons, slides, pull-offs, and even some open-string notes. It may look pretty confusing, and there is a chord here that may be weird to learn to play, but overall the song is not difficult.
Part 1
Begin the first measure with a hammer-on. Remember a hammer-on is when you go from a lower note to a higher note, only striking the first note. Start on the fourth fret on the “B” string with your 1st finger and then just use your 2nd finger to hit the fifth fret on the same string. Remember to only strike the first note. Then, play the open “high E” note and prepare to slide. Begin the slide by going back to the fourth fret with your 1st finger on the ‘B” string, and sliding to the second fret
with that same finger. Play the open notes as shown, and then hammer-on to the first fret with your 1st finger on the “G” string. Play the other set of open notes, and then play the first fret on the “G” string to end the measure.
The second measure is simple. All you have to do is pull off the first fret and then let all strings ring open. Pull-off by going from a higher note to a lower note, only striking the first
note.
Part 2
The 1st measure has three sets of open notes before you begin the weird chord. Play those as shown, and then prepare for this chord. This will be a B(6) chord. Play this chord by placing your 1st finger on the first fret on the “G” string, your 2nd finger on the second fret on the “A” string, and your 3rd finger on the “high E” string on the second fret. Play that once, play the open strings, play that chord again, and then follow up with some more open strings
