The Exercise
You don’t have to play the same chord over the entire measure. Many songs feature a chord change within the measure. A few songs have multiple chord changes in one measure. In this lesson’s exercise, we’ll back off of the timing aspect of strumming and focus on chord changes. All of the chords in this lesson should be familiar to you by now, too.
Here’s a drill that you can do to help you change chords faster:
- Start with C, lift, and press down the G chord.
- Release, then press down the D chord.
- Release, then press down the C chord.
- Release, then press down the G chord.
- And so on…
Keep it slow and practice any mistakes as you go along.
