"Gimme One Reason" by Tracy Chapman

Riff Rundown

Difficulty: Easy

Intro

We are beginning the intro at line 2 since the opening is just a few open notes. The overall theme of the song stays the same, but there are a few changes that take place. One good rule of "thumb" for the transition (shown below on lines 4- 5) is to mute the open A string when moving to line 5 to keep it from making a strange garbling sound hidden between the Low E string and the open A string.

You'll see what I mean if you play it without muting that open string during the transition. It will sound like the song gets thrown off key with that open note on the A string ringing through.

Don't let line 19 throw you off. You are just moving a power chord formation. Don't try to stretch it. Just move your positioning on the neck.

Solo

I cannot stress enough to just have fun with this solo. It's rather easy, but there are some tricky areas. You can always play it really bluesy and add a little to it (which is why I have provided the backing track below).
