“Crazy Train” by Ozzy Osbourne And Randy Rhoads

Difficulty: Intermediate

Intro

Guitar 1

To kick off the song the rhthm section helps builds up to one of the
song’s signature riffs. When I play this riff I use mostly downstrokes
when picking, except for the part at the end starting with the note
on the 5th fret on the low E string. I use alternate picking for these
last 7 notes.

Now let’s take a listen to the riff in the context of how the song
goes. Use a pick scrap down the strings to head into the riff after
the bass and drums kick it off. Then play the riff above 1 1/2 times
then end with the two measures below. This entire riff sequence is
played once more right after the solo.

Verse

The guitar part to the verse is intensive on your right hand’s picking
as we drone the A string in between chord shapes. Before the singing
to the verse begins we play through the rhythm part twice. The second
time we add a fill at the end:

Once Ozzy starts singing we continue to play the riff without any
frills:
