In this lesson, we’ll take our standard open G chord and build a scale around it. This will us to mix fills in with the chord to create more intricate phrases. Most of the notes from the scale are already in the chord form. In fact, we’ll only be adding two additional notes, but looking at the scale as it pertains to the chord helps a great deal in developing musical ideas.
First, I’ll show you the scale pattern for the open G chord and then give you a few examples of the type of things that you can do with it. Your next step is to come up with your own fills and phrases!
