Step 1: Lesson PDF

Today we’ll take a closer look at how we use intervals to create chords. I’ve prepared a study guide for  you.

Download the  5.1 “Creating Chords Using Intervals” PDF here.

It’s an important lesson, so don’t skip it!

Step 2: Let’s Work On Those Chops

This exercise is designed to build up your 3rd and 4th finger strength, dexterity, and speed, and we’ve included a few advanced exercises further below that allow you to work with your 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th fingers as well.

The logics of the fingerings in this lesson are basic. For the lower notes, use your 3rd finger and for the higher notes, use your 4th finger.

They are designed to be played as follows:

60 bpm – 1 set of 5 (rest 1 min.)

70 bpm – 1 set of 3 (rest 1 min.)

80 bpm – 1 set of 2 (rest 1 min.)

…and for those of you who are getting fast…

120 bpm (optional) – 1 set of 5 (rest 1 min.)

150 bpm (optional) – 1 set of 3 (rest 2 mins.)

Total Reps – 10 @ 3 sets OR 18 @ 5 sets
