Think You Know Chords?

Below you’ll find five fun quizzes based on your knowledge of chords.

  • Name That Chord Diagram: Easy Open Chords: Easy does it! In this visual exercise you’ll test your ability to identify a chord by looking at the chord diagram.
  • Name That Chord Ear Training: In this ear training exercise you are to listen to the audio example and determine if it is a major or minor chord.  Remember the major chord will sound rather common, whereas the minor will have what some people will call a “sad” sound.
  • Name That Chord-7th Chords:  Do you think you can tell the difference between the sound of the different types of 7th chords? You’ll be able to find out in this ear training exercise.
  • Name That Chord-7th Chords Part 2: In these exercises you’ll press the the play button to hear a chord then check the box that describes the chord you heard.
  • Name That Chord Diagram: Advanced Open Chords: Whew! These are pretty hard. You have better be somewhat familiar  with extended chord formulas like dominant 7th chords, 9th, major and minor 7ths, etc.
