"Ghost Rider In The Sky" by The Ventures

Riff Rundown

Difficulty: Easy - Intermediate

Your tuning is standard. This one is meant to be played on an electric, but the concept is still roughly the same. It's just a little harder to keep those notes ringing, and the palm mutes are a little awkward.

Theme

This theme runs over and over, so here is the full theme below. You can see a few places where I would change it up a little. Do this as well. This song has so much opportunity for improv!

In Part B, you begin your palm mutes. Do this by laying your picking hand over the strings just a little to dampen them. You end the palm mutes when you move to 2/4 timing. The rests in between are about a 6 count. Of course, you can do this however you feel it, since it's easy to get back into the movement of the gallop.

Watch closely at Part C. You need to play triplets for the Am chords. To do this, literally count 1-2-3. (not one "and")

I dropped the drum machine out about here, and just played the theme to end over and over.
