There are two guitar parts in this song,
and neither are really 'easy' to play
unless you know this song. Though many
of you do have a slide, some don't. The
lead part is meant to be played on a slide,
but you can also play it with your finger
or pick.
The quirky post-grunge quartet Dynamite
Hack was formed in Austin, TX, in 1997,
taking their name from a line in the film
Caddyshack. Vocalist/guitarist Mark Morris,
vocalist/bassist Chad Robinson, guitarist
Mike Vlahakis, and drummer Chase Scott
took their cues from bands like Weezer,
Pavement, Jawbreaker, and the Barenaked
Ladies. The latter influence was especially
apparent on Dynamite Hack's acoustic folk-rock
cover of N.W.A.'s "Boyz 'N tha Hood,"
which became a local radio hit in the
Austin/Dallas area in 1999.
This song TRULY shows what you can do
to virtually any song to make it an acoustic
hit! Remember - it's all for humor.
Here's the video for laughs (understand
that the "n" word is used, but
it's the original lyrics from NWA - and
just TRY to sing it and play it - wow!):
