This is a fretting exercise dealing with speed. The fingerings are very important in this case.
What you will need to do is use your 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th fingers every time for the exercise.
- 1st finger – lowest note available
- 2nd finger – next lowest note available
- 3rd finger – next highest note available
- 4th finger – highest note available
In other words, on the first bar of tablature, in the 1st measure:
- Fret 1 = 1st finger
- Fret 2 = 2nd finger
- Fret 3 = 3rd finger
- Fret 4 = 4th finger
The same applies down the line.
